Travellers on the Bica, Lavra, Glória and Santa Justa Elevators will be surprised with a very different kind of trip and invited to enjoy the public art exhibits in the interiors and exteriors of these Lisboa traditional forms of transport. Alexandre Farto, Vasco Araújo, Susana Anágua and Susana Mendes Silva are the four Portuguese artists who have mixed art and mobility with the aim of establishing a bridge between a past, present and future filled with stories and experiences.

For the Bica Elevator, Alexandre Farto has created a project based on an intervention on the exterior of the tram making it a mirror of everything around it.

The work by Susana Anágua at the Glória Elevator is based on a mechanical exercise – the exchange of forces - between the elevator’s two cabins. On the Lavra Elevator Vasco Araújo presents a journey as a meeting point. As for the Santa Justa Elevator, Susana Mendes Silva aims to create a dialogue activating a translated message in various languages for all its passengers.
