Carnival Parade in Lisbon
Saturday | February 18
For the 14th consecutive year, the Carnival of Lisbon will come to the city center to spread joy on Saturday | February 18, with confetti, masks, music, silly dance and good humor with a parade that runs in downtown, between Town Hall Square and Rossio.
XIV Carnival Parade will have the participation of several groups in a joint organization with several parish councils.

Carnival of Torres Vedras
Days of Folly
Considered the most Portuguese Carnival in Portugal, Torres Vedras Carnival in the Lisboa, is one of the biggest events and folk celebrations of the kind that remains true to the Carnival traditions in Portugal.
Genuine and always irreverent, the highlight of this great festival is the float parade that every year provides highly original satirical lampoons of contemporary issues.
There are also the always fun parades of the "matrafonas" (men masquerading as women) and the famous "cabeçudos" (giant head puppets) followed by the "Zé Pereiras". Sports is the theme of this year's carnival, so for 6 days and 5 nights, the motto is: For every reveler ... there is always a winner! In the spirit of healthy competition, just dress up as an athlete and come enjoy the Carnival: breathe, sweat, run, dance, hop, jump ... the most important thing is to have fun.
Held in the centre of the town of Torres Vedras, all those who are passing through or visiting the Lisboa Region are invited to attend this big event, where the order of the day is originality and good humor.

Carnival of Sesimbra
4 Nights of XXL Folly
Sesimbra, located in the Lisboa region, is known for its lively carnival tradition.
This year, the town once again prepares to host one of its most iconic festivals, the Sesimbra Carnival at the G.D. Pavilion. Join the party and enjoy the variety of activities that liven the days and nights of the Sesimbra Carnival: dance, fancy dress contest, Samba gala, Theme Nights, Samba school percussion groups.
All this and a lot of more craziness are the explosive ingredients of this great Carnival celebration.

Carnival of Loures 2012
"Fado, another way of life"
Recently regarded as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, Fado is the theme for the 2012 edition of the Loures Saloio Carnival. This year the town of Loures, located a few kilometres from Lisboa, will be transformed into an authentic "Fado House".
From February 18 to 22, the biggest event in town takes to the streets for another great year of carnival. As tradition dictates, the festivities will commence with the Ball and Coronation of Kings 2012, on February 18. The fun continues on February 19 & 21 with the great carnival parade featuring 14 floats and about 1,000 participants, who will perform the best known Fado songs. These will include "Musas do Tejo" (from the theme "Fado Meu") performed by the famous "Mastronças do Moulin Rouge" (largest organized carnival group in Portugal), and "Cheira bem, cheira a Lisboa," "Estranha forma de vida" and "Há festa na Mouraria," among many others.
February 20 sees the performance of the famous "Baile Trapalhão" (Slapstick Ball) held at Loures Fire Station, in which everyone can participate, wearing the most bizarre mask imaginable. Loures Carnival ends with the burial of the famous Dom Ocarário 29th, King of Carnival 2012 on February 22, from 9.30pm, in Largo 4 de Outubro.
