Álvaro Pirez D'Évora

“A Portuguese painter in Italy on the eve of the Renaissance” is one of the major exhibitions of art at the start of this period to take place in Portugal.

Organised by the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga in partnership with the Pollo Museale della Toscana, this exhibition presents a set of 90 paintings and sculptures by the artist Álvaro Pires D’Évora, who was born in Portugal and who worked in Italy on the eve of the Renaissance revolution of 1410-1434.

His works often resort to golden backgrounds while his style is that of international Gothic.

This exhibition contains his major works, loaned by a number of museums, churches and collections from around Europe.


Until 15th March 2020, Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm, closed 25th December and 1st January, Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, Rua das Janelas Verdes.
