Museum of Portuguese Music - Verdade de Faria

A museum of Portuguese music that is well worth stopping off for.

The Museum of Portuguese Music is housed in the Casa Verdade de Faria. Raul Lino’s architectural design for this small palace is a perfect example of the influence of 20th Century Romanticism, fine-tuned by a profoundly eclectic revivalism. The museum's valuable collection of popular musical instruments was amassed by the Corsican musician and ethnologist Michel Giacometti, who spent the greater part of his life studying Portuguese folk music, and by the composer Fernando Lopes Graça.  In addition to hosting exhibitions and concerts, the museum also has an important documentation centre on Portuguese music.
