Operafest Lisboa

After the success of its launching in Summer 2020, OPERAFEST LISBOA, the new opera festival in town, directed by soprano Catarina Moder and produced by Opera do Castelo, is now proved reality and is coming back in 2021, to bring the emotion of opera to everyone!

Combining tradition with vanguardism, in a diversified programme, exploring opera in many different stimulating ways, OPERAFEST LISBOA invites all audiences and clearly bets in the opera and in the creators of the future, as well as in young talent and has its epicenter in the beautiful Garden of National Museum of Ancient.

Still on path of tragedy, opera’s quintessence, following the matrix thematic “the worst, the better”, but in the hangover of a pandemic which froze the world, putting in stake social life and human share, art presents itself has an inestimable via to the word of unlimited, where anything is possible!

It will be a program combining tears, mystery and Utopia, marked by great classics (Madama Butterfly), but also by opera inedited (The Medium by Gian-Carlo Menotti), creations (Untill death tears us apart by Ana Seara) in double bill with Mahagonny Songspiel by Kurt Weill, Maratona Opera XXI - contest for new arias and new opera explorations with opera satellite (Staged Gala Soul on Fire, Lyric Machine - singing lessons for amateurs, and an Operatic Rave), to surprise unexpected audiences of all tastes!
