Flora Fluminense | “Florae Fluminensis

"Florae Fluminensis", also known as Flora Fluminense, is a work elaborated by the Brazilian naturalist Frei José Mariano da Conceição Veloso (1742-1811).

It is considered the masterpiece of the botanist due to the enormous register of plants as well as the early adoption of Lineu's classification system.

In the Tombo tower, we can see five of these volumes, dating from 1790, as well as an immensity of drawings of botanical specimens collected by Friar Veloso and his team in Rio de Janeiro.
