The exhibition The Accidental Photographer: serial imagery and experimentation in Portugal 1968-1980 is an attempt to map the critical and conceptual use of photography by visual artists in Portugal. The exhibition The Accidental Photographer: serial imagery and experimentation in Portugal 1968-1980 is an attempt to map the critical and conceptual use of photography by visual artists in Portugal. Covering a period that was heavily marked by the Revolution of 25 April, 1974, the exhibition reveals the important changes taking place in Portuguese art at what proved to be a difficult time for the cultural inscription of artists’ proposals. As this represents the first attempt to portray this fascinating creative panorama, the exhibition also provides a rare opportunity to understand the transformations in the uses that were made of photography. From 20th May, Tuesday to Friday, 11 am to 6 pm, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 11 am to 7 pm, Gallery 1 of the Fundação Culturgest, Rua Arco do Cego, (Metro: Campo Pequeno). Tickets: 2 euros.
