2017 is the year in which the 450th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important figures in the history of music - Claudio Monteverdi – is celebrated. A date which the Belém Cultural Centre has chosen not to ignore, but rather celebrate with a weekend of concerts inspired by this all-time musical genius. Considered to be the father of Opera, his Orpheus from 1607, was the first work to bring together the basic ingredients of this musical genre in a consistent form. 14th to 17th September at 9 pm, Centro Cultural de Belém – Main Auditorium, Praça do Império. Tickets: between 7.5 and 30 euros.
