This exhibition details what happened during the Royal Court’s presence in Rio de Janeiro from 1808 to 1821, the contrast between two very different cultures and the economic and political development of this former colony that, from 1815, was raised to the level of kingdom united with that of Portugal and the Algarve, and which was soon to become an independent empire.

Until 3rd June, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm, Museu Nacional dos Coches, Av. da India, 136 (tram: 15). Tickets: adults 8 euros; students and seniors 4 euros; under-12s free.
