Dias da Música em Belém'19 | Shakespeare – The Sweet Power of Music
[ 25-04-19 | 28-04-19 ] William Shakespeare is the central figure of Belém Music Days, for an edition that seeks to revive the “Sweet Power of Music”.
For the English poet and playwright, music had a unique transforming power, and was everywhere in his writing, which, in turn, influenced and encouraged composers down the ages, leading to a vast repertoire. The event follows several alternative paths connected to Shakespeare: from the music of his day to modern electronic music, including concerts dedicated to famous plays and characters in his works. The event will include such works as “The Taming of the Shrew”, “The Tempest”, “Hamlet”, “Henry IV”, “Macbeth”, “Measure for Measure” and “Romeo and Juliet”. Music Days counts on the presence of globally recognised musicians and the involvement of leading Portuguese singers and groups. 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th April, Centro Cultural de Belém, Praça do Império (tram: 15 | bus: 729). Tickets: from free to 14.50 euros.
