[ 03-08-19 | 31-08-19 ] The Castelo de São Jorge will be taken over by acrobats, stunts and revelry.
Why?
A show by the Chapitô circus company at the end of the day will involve acrobatic dancing that oscillates between Apollo – the god of beauty, reason and order – and Dionysius – the god of adventure, music, fantasy and disorder.
The performance is inspired by the “Danças de Lucta”, a carnival practice in Lisboa until the 20th century as an annual competition between the city’s traditional neighbourhoods (Alfama, Mouraria and Bica).
3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st August, at 7pm, Castelo de São Jorge, Rua de Santa Cruz do Castelo (tram: 12 | bus 737).
Tickets: general, 10 euros; ages 13-18, 5 euros; over-65s, 8.5 euros.
