The Christmas Concert features Ponchielli’s rarely performed Messa per la notte di Natale, which premiered in December 25th 1882. Composed in Bergamo, it blends liturgical solemnity with Italian lyricism. Scored for a five-part choir, three soloists, and a full orchestra, this overlooked sacred gem stands alongside Rossini and Verdi in 19th-century Italian religious music tradition.
