A majestic creation and one of the most popular works in the repertoire for choir, orchestra and soloists.
Messiah HWV 56, by Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759), is traditionally performed during the Christmas season.
This year it is presented by the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra, conducted by Martina Batič, with Julia Doyle (soprano), Marie-George Monet (mezzo-soprano), Thomas Hobbs (tenor) and Mark Diamond (baritone).
Principal conductor of the Gulbenkian Choir, Martina Batič, is highly regarded among her peers for her remarkable versatility in choral repertoire.
