[ November ] Great artists, filmmakers, actors, writers and intellectuals meet once again for the Lisbon & Sintra Film Festival.
The 16th edition of LEFFEST – Lisbon Sintra Film Festival will be presented in both cities, between November 10-20th, and will bring a set of 11 films for the Official Selection in Competition; and 17 films Out of Competition, that offers a wide selection of the most awaited movies of the next season.
LEFFEST has also prepared some retrospectives, like “Jim Carrey: Myth or Reality?”; and another about the work of the director Sérgio Tréfaut. A vast programme about the black cinema movement, created in the sixties, in the US, “L.A. Rebellion”, includes, besides the screening of films and the presence of their directors, the exhibit “L.A. Rebellion: A journey with Ben Caldwell throughout the history and the legacy of the movement”.
“Breaking the Bars” is a special programme that offers a wide range of films and debates, such as the debate about abolitionism, with Angela Davis and Gina Dent; and the exhibit “Art amongst ruins: Artistic sublimation in the Gaza Strip – Malak Matar”, with works from the Palestinian artist; and also concerts with Archie Shepp 4TET and Dino D’Santiago, and the dance show “My story is not the same as yours”], from Olga Roriz, with a group of inmates from Linhó’s prison.
But there will be time also for the special programme “Am I Guilty?” which will present a variety of films that will take us to the human questions about guilty; and, finally, the play performed by John Malkovich “The Infamous Ramirez Hoffman”, based on the work of Roberto Bolaño.
