Lisboa na Rua | Com'Out Lisbon

Lisboa fills with art, with the city’s squares and parks transformed into authentic open-air stages offering theatre, cinema, music, dance, literature and magic.

The Lisboa na Rua (Lisboa takes to the streets) festival is back, and ready for the new times in which we live.

Every event takes place outdoors: an invitation to discover squares, gardens and different city neighbourhoods.

The programme is varied, with music, exhibitions, theatre, cinema, dance, magic and walks.

And because Lisboa is European Green Capital, nature will take on a new life in some of the city’s streets and squares, with a smiling tree watching over passers-by.

It is an installation by British artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas, who have been creating inflatable works of art for more than 20 years. In the same spirit, the “Lisboa Soa” sound festival invites you to (re)discover the sounds of the city during a year marked by an enforced silence in public spaces.

This year also marks the centenary of the birth of one of Portugal’s great voices, that of the fado singer Amália Rodrigues, and the date merits the screening of a series of films.

There is also the Summer Nights, which promise to present “courageous and emotional music and shows”.

There will also be “Dancing in the City”, with the public challenged to try a number of styles, this time solo, but always full of rhythm.

The “Chapéus na Rua” Lisboa busking festival is also back to take control of Arroios for a number of days. Highlights of the event include three concerts by the Gulbenkian Orchestra and its Soloists.

But there will be much more to see and discover on the streets of Lisboa.

* Admission to all events remains free, but this year the #LisboaNaRua program will take place in spaces with limited capacity and is subject to prior reservation or ticket collection.
