THE DRAGON BOATS ARE COMING!

From September 25 to 27, Lisbon hosts the inaugural Lisbon Dragon Boat Festival, bringing to the capital a sport with 2,500 years of history that is now practiced in over 100 countries.

Organized by the Dragon Boat Portugal Association with the support of the Lisbon City Council, the event takes place at the Oceanarium Dock in Parque das Nações and is expected to draw more than 700 participants.

The program kicks off on the 25th with the School Challenge, followed on the 26th by training sessions and boat familiarization. The highlight comes on Sunday, the 27th—as part of European Week of Sport—featuring University, Firefighter, and Nautical Challenges, alongside a Community Day open to the public.

Sport, culture, and inclusion come together in a festival that will also feature the participation of SPEM and the Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission, bringing together schools, universities, clubs, and the community in a sport already dubbed the "padel of water sports.
