This exhibition takes the visitor on a journey of discovery about the man and architect, 104 years after the beginning of his career, and celebrates Porfírio Pardal Monteiro, presenting a panoramic view of his work and his life and passion.
Creator of impressive public works, effective and pragmatic, Porfírio Pardal Monteiro marked the transformation and urban evolution of the city of Lisbon with vital equipment. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was the architect who built the most and the one who became famous as the first modernist. Without concessions, he was able to take the thread of tradition to innovate.
The Rectory of the University of Lisbon, Hotel Ritz, Instituto Superior Técnico, Faculty of Arts, National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, National Library of Portugal, are some of the many emblematic buildings designed by Porfírio Pardal Monteiro
Works such as the Sintra Hospital, the Cais do Sodré Station or the Gares Marítimas will be presented based on original drawings, visionary paintings or period images, occupying the rooms of the MU.SA - Sintra Arts Museum.
