From wine to history: a weekend to celebrate wine tourism in Oeiras.
Oeiras celebrates World Wine Tourism Day 2025 on 8 and 9 November, with a diverse programme that invites you to discover the municipality's wine and historical heritage.
On the 8th, the morning will be dedicated to a guided tour of the winery with wine tastings, while the afternoon will feature an Introductory Wine Tasting Workshop, ideal for those who want to learn more about the world of wine.
The 9th begins with a walking tour of Quinta dos Marqueses de Pombal, including guided tours of the vineyards and cellars and wine tasting. During the afternoon, the historic Adega do Palácio Marquês de Pombal will be open to the public, with free visits and tasting of Carcavelos wine ‘Villa Oeiras’.
As is tradition, the Festa de São Martinho promises to liven up the Historic Centre of Oeiras and Parque Anjos in Algés, with roasted chestnuts and “Villa Oeiras” wine, in a festive and convivial atmosphere.

GUIDED VISIT TO THE WINERY OF MARQUIS OF POMBAL PALACE

Wine experience including a guided visit to the Marquis of Pombal Palace Winery with a tasting of two wines and one olive oil ‘Villa Oeiras’, held in the smallest demarcated region of Portugal - the Carcavelos Demarcated Region.

WINE TASTING INTRODUCTION WORKSHOP
8 NOV | 15:00 | Marquis of Pombal Palace Winery
Discover Portuguese wine through the senses, from North to South.
In this experience, you will learn to taste like a sommelier, starting with the fundamentals that define wine as acidity, tannin, body and sweetness.
Then, you will “travel” across the country through five wines from different climates and soils.
This is a beginner-level training with technical depth, designed for those who want to understand why a wine is the way it is, and not just whether you like it.
Each wine tells a story through its terroir: from the granite of Minho to the schist of Alentejo. Each tasting will be a guided sensory exercise, step by step, under the central promise: “in 90 minutes, gain the vocabulary and the insight of someone who understands the wine.” The aim is to teach participants how to identify and describe wine with confidence.
Duration: 1h30
Format: guided tasting of 5 wines + sensory perception workshop
Target audience: enthusiasts, wine lovers and restaurant professionals wishing to improve their sensory reading.

Instructor: Marc Pinto, Sommelier at Fifty Seconds, developed part of his career in Spain, where he worked at the 3-Michelin-starred restaurant Lasarte. Winner of several awards, including the National Sommelier Championship and “Sommelier of the Year” prizes from specialized wine and gastronomy magazines.

The Marquis of Pombal Palace Winery will open its doors to visitors for tastings of the Carcavelos fortified wine 'Villa Oeiras’.

The Municipality of Oeiras celebrates Saint Martin's Day with roasted chestnuts, Carcavelos wine “Villa Oeiras”, plenty of entertainment, and free entry.
The festivities will take place from 11:00 to 22:00 - on 8 November at Largo 5 de Outubro, in the art of Oeiras' Historic Centre, and on 9 November at Parque Anjos, in Algés - welcoming hundreds of visitors.
