This is the first stage of the auditions of the Brandenburger Concerts (BWV 1046-1051) by Johann Sebastian Bach. Unanimously recognized as one of the milestones in the history of Western music, these six concerts were composed between 1718 and 1721 and dedicated to Cristóvão Ludovico de Brandenburg-Schwedt, who commissioned them. Interestingly, despite their importance and genius, the concerts were totally forgotten for more than a century and were only published in 1850, after their discovery in the Brandenburg archives.

In the first concert, the only one structured in four movements, the composer reuses other works of his own, such as the Opening of Cantata BWV 208 or the Symphony of Cantata BWV 52.

Concerto No. 2 has been described as a pyramid at the base of which are string instruments, just above the soloists and, at the top, a single soloist of greater importance, in this case the trumpet.

The third concert in the collection is perhaps the most popular of them all. Johann Sebastian Bach, here, puts aside wind instruments to focus entirely on the strings.
