The Puppet Museum invites the public to discover 21st-century Portuguese puppet makers.

In the year it celebrates its 25th anniversary, the Puppet Museum presents, from 3 July 2026, an exhibition dedicated to the world of 21st-century puppet makers in Portugal.

The exhibition brings together the work of a group of artists who have left their mark on the art of puppetry in Portugal, many of whom have spent around 25 years dedicated to the construction and manipulation of these figures.

Away from the public eye, these creators bring form, movement and expression to the puppets, developing processes in which knowledge of traditional techniques intersects with experimentation with new materials, forms and languages.

Through the presentation of marionettes, the exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at this art form, highlighting the ingenuity, creativity and diversity of approaches of a generation that has contributed to the appreciation of marionettes in Portugal.

From 3 July to 27 September, 21st-century Portuguese marionette creators are coming to the Marionette Museum!
