The only Portuguese project selected for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, the 2026 Mies van der Rohe Award, can be visited on 16 May, on a guided tour led by architect João Favila Menezes.

On Saturday 16 May at 4.30 pm, the public is invited to visit the Graça Funicular free of charge and to discover the thinking behind its design, explained by the project’s architect.

The visit is part of the Out & About. Discovering Architecture programme, which aims to bring contemporary architecture closer to the public through free guided tours and talks led by the architects themselves, at over 30 locations across Europe between April and May. The programme is organised by Creative Europe and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, with the support of the Guiding Architects Association.
