Roberto Burle Marx (1909–1994), an innovative 20th-century landscape architect, was a staunch defender of Brazilian biomes—especially the Atlantic Forest, the Amazon, and the Cerrado.
He was a leading figure in Brazil’s urban development, closely associated with the modern design of cities like Brasília and Rio de Janeiro.
The exhibition, A Place To Be: The Burle Marx Legacy, at the CCB, features 22 public landscape projects spanning seven decades.
These works are shown in dialogue with pieces by six guest artists: Juan Araujo, Fernanda Fragateiro, Mónica de Miranda, Filipe Feijão, Lourdes Castro, and João dos Santos Martins.
