Alkantara Festival'23

The Alkantara Festival presents an international programme of theatre, dance and other performing arts. And talks about the artistic practices in contemporary society.

Dance, theatre, performance, gatherings and parties will once again be spread throughout Lisboa to celebrate another edition of Alkantara Festival.

This 30th edition brings ‘Blackface’, a solo show, written and directed by Marco Mendonça; a musical conference, between stand up and phantasy, between satire and physical theatre, between the burlesque and the documental, that is presented at Teatro do Bairro Alto; ‘Pai para Jantar’ (‘Father for Dinner’), a show by Gaya de Medeiros that will go on stage at Centro Cultural de Belém and questions us about how me manage words, affections and archetypes around the idea of ‘being a man’.

Among other shows, two stand out: on the one hand, Nadia Beugré is returning to Portugal to present ‘Prophetic (We are already born)’ at Culturgest.

This show results from the contact she has been maintaining with the transgender community of Abidjan.

The other show is called ‘Uirapuru’ and will be presented at São Luiz Teatro Municipal.

It is a co-creation by Marcelo Evelin and Demolition Incorporated about the entities inhabiting the forests of Brazil and the imagery of the Brazilian woods.

From 10th to 26th November in various cultural venues in Lisboa
