The São Carlos National Theatre Choir and the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra propose to take you on a journey through the most popular opera choruses.
As ambassadors of the operatic repertoire in Portugal, the musicians lead the audience through examples of different sensibilities and approaches by different composers from different countries.
The opening chorus from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco (1842), the overture from the opera Der fliegende Holländer (1843), the chorus of guests from the second act of Richard Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser, are just some of the works that will be performed.
There will also be a performance from two choruses from Portuguese composer Alfredo Keil’s opera A Serrana (1899).
