Painter and ceramicist, with ventures into printmaking and tapestry, Devrim Erbil (Uşak, 1937) is a leading figure in modern Turkish art, where he is known for his poetic interpretations of Istanbul’s urban landscape, capturing the city’s rhythm and rich textures.
Istanbul and Lisboa – Soulmates links the two cities through symbols and forms defining their identity and endurance, united under the shared hues of red and green, in a magical connection between two historic European port cities.
The exhibition also celebrates the diplomatic relations between Portugal and Turkey, which were established in 1843.
