The opera Os dias levantados is the most important musical work dedicated to the 25th April 1974.
Premiered at the São Carlos National Theatre in 1998, it seeks, in the words of composer Pinho Vargas, ‘the defence of impurity and freedom in the creative process’.
Manuel Gusmão’s libretto also mirrors this creative freedom, making numerous and varied poetic voices explode.
Conducted by maestro Giampaolo Vessella and with musical direction by Pedro Amaral, the concert features the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the São Carlos National Theatre.
