Picasso. Universal Master

In Picasso's work, there is an enormous versatility guided by the unit and a permanent thought that is transversal to his works.

In this exhibition, Picasso. Universal Master, curated by Helena Alonso, a careful selection of works expresses the numerous connections the artist establishes between ceramics, drawing and printmaking, without forgetting literature and as the word links all his work.

The works come from private collections, especially those belonging to the Fran Daurel Collection, which includes all ceramics, drawings and graphic work. Also present are other private collections, such as the Mouvant Collection.

In order to show the great diversity of Picasso's production and its relationship between the different types of expressions, we present a selection of works ranging from the first graphic series, the “Saltimbancos Suite”, created between 1904 and 1906 and assembled as a series by Vollard in 1913, it's also included a copy of a piece known as his last ceramic production, dated March 1971, just two years before his death.

“Saltimbancos Suite”, is here represented by a set of graphic works of different sizes, which were later conceived in works on canvas.

The exhibition also features a vast array of Ceramics - Unique and Serial Pieces, Drawings and Graphic Work, which Picasso made throughout his life, as well as the Suite Sable Mouvant, a series of lithographs that exemplify Picasso's collaboration with the most important poets of the avant-garde.
