All it takes is a 20-escudo banknote to set off on a journey around the world, or so promises this performance by the Mala Voadora theatre company.
9 to 25 January
Beginning with this note, bearing the image of Saint Anthony, we board a 500-escudo caravel bound for China, fly on a dragon, and embark on a journey that allows us to visit palaces and forests, and to meet penguins or even the Queen of England.
With each new banknote, new travel ideas and surprising characters emerge, as if these small pieces of paper could tell the story of the world – and also reveal what can go wrong when we lose sight of the true role of money.
