The celebration of love also has a place in the Lisboa festivities, through the weddings of Saint Anthony.

This tradition, dating from 1958, is a way of giving couples in financial difficulties the opportunity to get married.

The tradition was stopped in 1974 then brought back by Lisboa City Hall, which continues with the idea of helping make the dream come true for many lovers of Lisboa who, for whatever reason, have been unable to make it happen themselves.

So it is that on the 12th of June, 16 couples will become “man and wife”.

12th June, Sé de Lisboa, Largo da Sé (trams: 12 and 28 | bus: 737). Free entry.
