Antigone 3 for 3,5

Companhia do Chapitô continues its task of transforming tragedy into comedy and will transport the plot to the present days, promising a surprising reflection on the work's central ideas.

Chapitô continues its task of transforming tragedy into comedy, questioning the aspects of physical and social reality.

This time, creation number 38 by the Companhia rewrites Antigone. In the original story, after Oedipus' death, his two sons, Eteocles and Polynices, decide to govern Thebes for equal periods of time.

By the end of the first period, Polynices claims his place and is stopped by Eteocles.

Both brothers face each other in a war and end up dying. Enters Creon, uncle to both, who decrees that Eteocles be buried with all honours, while Polynices, considered a traitor, has no right to a tomb.

To better understand the tragedy by Sophocles, Companhia do Chapitô will transport the plot to the present days, promising a surprising reflection on the work's central ideas.
