Setúbal – Atlantic Mackerel Week

Mackerel (cavala in portuguese) will be queen in this gastronomic festival, in the ‘Semana da Cavala’ in Setúbal.

Probably, when we talk about Setubal cuisine, fried cuttlefish, sardines and horse mackerel immediately come to mind. However, there is another famous fish in these parts, the mackerel, which will be queen from the 6th to the 15th of May, in the ‘Semana da Cavala’ in Setúbal.

Almost four dozen restaurants in the city participate in the 'Semana da Cavala', which can be enjoyed between the 6th and 15th of May, under the 'Setúbal Terra de Peixe' program.

The menus of the restaurants participating in this gastronomic week include delicacies such as steam mackerel, fisherman mackerel, mackerel fillets and mackerel timbale. a cavala à pescador, filetes de cavala and "timbale de cavala".
