Détails

The exhibition AUTOCOLANTE. ICONOGRAPHY OF FREEDOM, conceived from the documentary archive of the Associação Cultural Ephemera, demonstrates how stickers have been and continue to be used as instruments of communication.

By bringing together political issues and graphic design, it proposes a broader interpretation of the role of visual objects in the construction, mediation and dissemination of ideologies, discourses and historical moments, highlighting the intersection between design, art and culture, and their relationship with contemporary social and political dynamics.

Particular emphasis is given to the role of the sticker in the post-25 April period and during the 1975–76 electoral cycle, as well as to the celebration of five decades of democratic life.

This joint initiative between MUDE – Museu do Design and the Associação Cultural Ephemera marks the beginning of a partnership between institutions which, each in its own way, contribute to the research, preservation and exhibition of visual and material culture artefacts.
