The 2026 PHONOVOICE  finds its axis of action and meaning in the phonetic oscillation between “exile” and “asylum.”

In this pair of words, we understand an ethics of listening to and welcoming the multiple sounds of multiple voices.

How to express, through voice, a world that produces refugees without offering refuge?
How to express the arbitrariness of borders and forced displacement?
This is the question the festival poses to the present moment: how does one exile the sound of a voice?
What asylum can be found in the sound of a voice?
The four authors were invited to prepare their performances based on this idea, including the creation of an original piece.

The same principle was used in the curation of the videos, selected from the historical and contemporary archive, based on the premise that the sound poem can be a space of exile and a place for asylum.
