Feira da Luz

Linked to the traditional pilgrimage that was held annually in September at the Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Luz. Currently, the Feira da Luz (Fair of Light) is organized by the Junta de Freguesia de Carnide.

Linked to the traditional pilgrimage that was held annually in September at the Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Luz, the fair was a complement to religious festivities that lasted for several days, attracting numerous foreigners from the capital and its surroundings.

In 1929, with the establishment of the tram line that linked the Restauradores to Carnide, access became easier and a new calendar was established, extending the event from the first Saturday to the last Sunday in September.

Since 1992, the Junta de Freguesia de Carnide is culturally allied to the festivities that culminate with the procession of Nossa Senhora da Luz.

Currently, the Feira da Luz (Fair of Light) is organized by the Junta de Freguesia de Carnide.
