NewsMuseum and Sintra Myths and Legends reopening

International Museum Day, 18th May, will mark the reopening of two must-visit museums in Sintra, Portugal’s most romantic town: the NewsMuseum and Sintra Myths and Legends.

And there is a new feature that will make the visitor experience even richer and more complete, as the two interactive exhibition centres work together.

You can see these new features immediately on Level 0 of the NewsMuseum, with its new layout that is home to content dedicated to local centres and stories, now in multimedia format.

You will find out about “the mystery of the Sintra road” and the “spies of the Second World War”, return to when the town was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and discover the history of queijadas, the town’s typical sweets.

You can also revisit Sintra in a photo exhibition in which the town’s protagonists are the main points of interest, in a “best-of” set of images provided by the Portuguese news agency, Lusa.

Visitors to this space can also find out about the goods and services offered by local traders, to make the experience more complete, and also enjoy some refreshments at the Sintra café.

At the same time, the experiences provided by the Educational and Institutional Service have been enhanced in association with the neighbouring Sintra Myths and Legends Interactive Centre.

In this centre, stories and secrets of the mysticism of Sintra are told.

Using a variety of multimedia techniques, alongside sensory effects and 3D films, visitors can walk through the 17 spaces on a journey through the region’s music and literature, all set against the mountains that reveal a range of tales, both real and fictional.

So there you have it: good new reasons to visit these two centres that are unique to Sintra.
