Premiered in 2013, Fernando Duarte's choreographic version of Swan Lake for the CNB, based on Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's timeless score, draws on the narrative and symbolic structure of the original to construct a more interior, dreamlike interpretation, where the boundaries between reality and fantasy, light and shadow, love and illusion become permeable.

This choreographic proposal is complemented by the collaboration of filmmaker Edgar Pêra, who has created a cinematic vision conceived specifically for this show. The moving image appears as an expanded presence on the stage, not to illustrate, but to create tension, prolong and unfold the dramaturgical space. 

In this version, the classic dichotomy between Odette and Odile (the white swan and the black swan) is approached as a manifestation of the same divided nature — a mirror of the internal conflict of each character and, by extension, of human beings.
