History of Pocket Music: The Middle Ages and the Renaissance, led by Inês Trindade, is the first stage of a musical journey that takes us through the key milestones of the history of Western music.

This first session invites us to explore the paths of music during this historical period, revealing how music was integrated into medieval and Renaissance religious and social life. Through listening to musical examples, we will seek to understand how monks were actively involved in musical practice, which was an integral part of their daily liturgical lives. 

At the same time, we will explore different genres of the liturgical repertoire, as well as the transition from oral tradition to musical notation, observing the transformations that led to the development of the notation we know today.
The second part of the session will be devoted to musical iconography and the instruments depicted therein, exploring some examples of secular music.
