Maria Helena Vieira da Silva’s birthday is celebrated with a programme of events taking place across the museum and the Jardim das Amoreiras, featuring workshops, concerts, guided tours, readings and a fair showcasing independent publications.

This year, under the theme ‘Birds and Mermaids’, the focus is on plants, their shadows, and the diverse forms of life and perspectives that inhabit the lush Jardim das Amoreiras.

It was against this natural backdrop that Vieira da Silva worked and where she chose to leave her work in its natural setting.

An opportunity to view the garden in various ways, celebrating it and placing the voice at its heart. Activities for a curious audience who can also visit the museum where the works of the couple Vieira da Silva and Arpad Szenes are on display, where they continue to flourish and resonate in the works of our contemporaries Sara & André, Lourdes de Castro, João Paulo Feliciano, Carlos Noronha Feio, Mariana Caló & Francisco Queimadela, artists featured in the second exhibition of the year.
