"What gestures would you maintain if movement became a challenge?" – is the question that Forme(s) de Vie, a show by Cie. Shonen, brings to Teatro Meridional, on the 6th and 7th of June (9-10pm), as part of the programme of InArt – Community Arts Festival.
In the search for an answer to this question, three dancers and two performers in progressive loss of mobility (a retired dancer and a retired boxer) come together on stage, guiding them to the (re)encounter of movement. Working the contemporary notion of "augmented body", the performers connect in a "dance-prosthesis", in which the dancers act as human prostheses that make up for the lack of mobility of the two performers.
The result is a show that, by combining dance with the projection of films on stage, encourages audience participation. It thus creates a space of intimacy and collective composition, and opens doors to a new vision of the virtuosity of movement and pride of the body through dance.
Directed and choreographed by Eric Minh Cuong Castaing, Cie. Shonen is a French dance company that has stood out internationally for its approach that combines dance and new technologies. Her works explore issues related to the relationships and representations of the body in the digital age and within diverse contexts and social realities.
Taking place between the 6th and 7th, at Teatro Meridional, and the 25th to 28th of June, at Teatro do Bairro, the InArt– Community Arts Festival returns to reaffirm its commitment to inclusion and accessibility through the arts. This year, presenting itself as a laboratory for research, experimentation and reflection, where ideas intersect with different methodologies and communities to open doors to future creations, the Festival focuses on training and artistic creation processes to explore new forms of expression and interaction. It brings together programming proposals that cross languages, movements, people and generations, looking at community and participatory art as a movement that drives new artistic and human landscapes and laying the foundations for an inclusive society, where the participation and enjoyment of art is within everyone's reach.
