5th Edition of Operafest Lisboa doubles audience number with exciting opera for everyone under the moto “Basic Instinct”

The Operafest Lisboa 5th edition, under the "basic instinct", kicks off with two of the most popular Italian verismo operas, “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci”, in Gardens of Palácio Marquês de Pombal, in Oeiras!
The "out of the box" Operafest 2024 Lisboa & Oeiras, led by soprano Catarina Molder and produced by Ópera do Castelo, which crosses tradition and vanguardism, is back with incredible new venues to offer exciting opera for everyone and doubling its audience!
Operafest Lisboa 2024 will spread to Oeiras town.
This 5th edition, under the moto "Basic Instinct", launches in the sumptuous Gardens of Palácio Marquês de Pombal, in Oeiras, a dreamlike setting right on the edge of Lisbon, two masterpieces of Italian verismo: “Cavalleria Rusticiana" by Mascagni and “Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo.
Right after, for the younger ones, the opera tale "Little Thumb" by Isabelle Aboulker.
In the new Lisbon epicentre, the open-air Amphitheatre of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, "Don Giovanni" by Mozart.
Celebrating five hundred years of the birth of one of the greatest poets of all time and father of the Portuguese language, Luís Vaz de Camões, the world premiere of cantata performance "Torment" based on Canto V of epic poem "Lusiads" in Lisbon Trienal.
But there will be more: Cine-Opera, conferences, debates, workshops and unique operatic rave in Titanic sur mer.
