This week, Cascais is enjoying non-stop football. Businessmen and veterans from four countries - Portugal, Brazil, the United States and Uruguay - have swapped their suits for football boots to compete in the AFIA World Cup Portugal 2025, the world's largest amateur football competition for masters.
Now, it's time for the final decision. The Torre and Dramático stadiums will host the semi-finals this Friday, with matches from 7:30 a.m. until around noon. On Saturday, the party continues in Rio Maior, one of the most modern training centres in Europe and home to several professional teams.
At the Rio Maior Municipal Stadium, Saturday's schedule is intense, with five matches at 7:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission to the matches is free, reinforcing the integration of the local community in the world's largest amateur football master event.
On the pitch, around 800 athletes will showcase their talent and passion. Among them is a legend: former Colombian defender Luis Carlos ‘Coroncoro’ Perea, idol of Atlético Nacional and World Cup player in 1990 and 1994, who plays for Miami F.C. in the USA in the Sapphire category (65+).
