Details

Belonging to the Albertina Museum, in Vienna, these drawings are placed here in direct confrontation with the small iconic oil painting on oak, which Albrecht Dürer (Nuremberg, 1471-1528) made in 1521, during his visit to Flanders and the Low Countries (July 1520-July 1521), and which, at that time, was offered as a gift to the secretary of the Portuguese factory in Antwerp, Rui Fernandes de Almada. The choice of the extraordinary human figure and the establishment of each of the significant objects that surround him take us to the very heart of this exceptional German artist’s creative process.
