Almada and Lisboa are once again invaded by theatre performances, thanks to another edition of the festival that brings to the stage distinct artistic trends, both classic and contemporary.
he Almada Festival is back, on its usual dates: between 4 and 18 July, 12 international productions and seven Portuguese shows will take to the stage across eight venues in Almada and Lisbon.
The 43rd edition features some of the most prominent creators in the world of theatre and dance, such as the German Peter Stein, the Swiss Christoph Marthaler and Milo Rau, the Belgian Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, the Serbian Josef Nadj, the Spanish Israel Galván, and the French Mohamed El Khatib.
In addition to the performances, the Festival’s ‘Complementary Events’ include a daily programme of meetings with artists, exhibitions and theatre training.
The figure to be honoured in 2026 is the actor and director Fernando Gomes, and Miguel Seabra will lead the course ‘The Meaning of the Masters’.
