Bosch: Contemporary Temptations

The Museum presents two contemporary perspectives on the Temptations of Saint Anthony in the Desert, which in Portugal is called Santo Antão.

While the triptych ‘The Temptations of Saint Anthony’, by the Flemish painter Hieronymus Bosch, is on loan at the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (National Museum of Ancient Art) wanted to use the same space to give visibility to contemporary works which were directly inspired by a present-day perspective on the work.

Until 19th January, the space will present a triptych by Pedro Portugal, from the Fundação EDP collection, and after that, until the end of the exhibition, a series of pieces purposely created by Pedro Zamith.

The Museum thus tries to present two contemporary perspectives on the Temptations of Saint Anthony in the Desert, which in Portugal is called Santo Antão.
