The biggest event in town takes to the streets for another great year of carnival. As tradition dictates, the festivities will commence with the Ball and Coronation of Kings.
The carnival tradition celebrates 25 years of revelry this year.
On the first day of the month, the carnival parade takes to the streets first thing in the morning, followed by the motorcyclists’ parade.
In the evening, the Carnival Kings and Queens are crowned.
The streets of Loures are filled from 2 to 4 March with 15 floats and more than 2600 dancers.
The fun continues into the night with the Carnival Balls on 1 and 3 March, at the Paz e Amizade Pavilion.
On 5 March, the high-point of the Carnival will be the burial of King Ocarário LII, with the traditional reading of King Momo's will, followed by a fireworks display.
