LISBON CELEBRATES THE CENTENARY OF PARQUE MAYER WITH A MONTH OF CULTURAL PROGRAMMING. IN JULY, LET’S GO TO PARQUE MAYER!

From 1 to 31 of July, every reason is a good reason to go to Parque Mayer. Entrance is free.

The Lisbon City Council, together with the Parish of Santo António – Lisbon, EGEAC, and in partnership with the National Museum of Theatre and Dance, offers the city a cultural programme of shows, exhibitions, film sessions, talks and itineraries, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Parque Mayer.

This celebration brings 11 concerts, with jazz, funk, soul, blues, dixie, rock and pop, to remember timeless hits of Portuguese music and the music hall, to present the newest singing voices, and to sing and dance through the history of Portuguese music.

There will be two documental exhibitions, one at Praça dos Restauradores and another inside the Parque Mayer premises, that tell us the story of the 100 years of this cultural centre. Throughout the city, several itineraries will guide visitors through the history of Parque Mayer and the golden era of Portuguese film.

Film sessions will display several episodes of A Paródia: Comédia à Portugueza (The Parody: Portuguese Comedy), a 1987 documental and recreational series dedicated to big names of the Portuguese comedy, film and theatre.

During the talks, find out what life was like in Parque Mayer. We invite all people, the ones who lived and have an inside knowledge of Parque Mayer, to share their personal stories and memories.
