The exhibition, comprising 50 vintage prints never previously exhibited. Across the various periods Dussaud spent in Portugal, the photographer gradually developed a photographic series captured in 1985, 1993 and 2002.
For the first time, this exhibition presents 50 photographic prints belonging to the collection of the Lisbon Municipal Photographic Archive, which was acquired by the Lisbon Municipal Council in 2003.
From the various visits that Georges Dussaud made to Portugal from 1980 onwards, and following the "Portugal and India" exhibition held at the Photographic Archive in 2000, he has selected and constructed a series of photographs taken in 1985, 1993 and 2002 under the theme of “Lisboa Blues”.
This group of images transports us to the public space of the capital during these different time periods, fixing in black and white a variety of compositions and scenes of everyday life resulting from the walks that the photographer took through the streets of some historic neighbourhoods in Lisbon and Prior Velho.
His curious gaze provides us with a portrait of a city with multiple rhythms, showing a scenario where diverse realities intersect with one another, revealing Lisbon’s cosmopolitan and multicultural character.
Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
