Imago Lisboa festival enhances the different contemporary photographic practices, without forgetting the presentation of authors of recognized historical value, whose knowledge is essential for understanding the current narratives.
The 3rd edition of the IMAGO LISBOA festival shows its consolidated growth.
The festival is organized around two themes: The Family in Transition (completely presented at the Carpintarias de São Lázaro) and Rethinking Nature/Rethinking Landscape (disseminated in various spaces), which constitute the motto for reflection on fundamental issues of the current society.
In the fusion of both themes, three series by Joakim Esklidsen are presented, whose work is exhibited for the first time in our country and which can be visited at the MNAC - National Museum of Contemporary Art.
Also in a new collaboration with the Salut au Monde project, the We are Family exhibition is presented at the SNBA (National Society of Fine Arts), which draws on the influence of the mythical exhibition The Family of Man, at MoMA in 1955.
The Portuguese presence is in charge of Pauliana Valente Pimentel whose work Ask the Kids, portrays a fringe of young people from Porto.
Due to the pandemic situation, it was not possible, in 2020, to carry out the project of reading portfolios – Lisbon Meeting Point, where, supposedly, the work of Mikhail Bushkov, the winning artist, was exhibited. Thus, his work, Zürich, as well as that of his wife Olga Bushkova, are featured in the novel Galeria Imago Lisboa.
On the sidelines of the official program, we must highlight the growing collaboration of galleries and other exhibition spaces that are associated with the event.
Parallel to the exhibitions, a set of actions aimed at the motivation and participation of different audiences are programmed.
