The Great New Year Concert is inspired by the traditional annual musical event celebrated in Vienna, Austria, and the presentation of a selection of Strauss’s most popular waltzes, polkas and marches.
The Strauss Festival Orchestra and Strauss Festival Ballet Ensemble will interpret such well-known tunes by the famous Austrian composer, including “Napoleon”, “Flower Festival”, “Emperor Waltz” and “Champagne-Polka”.
And not to forget the most famous of all his waltzes, “Blue Danube”, with the “Radetsky March” as the finale.
Accompanying the music – which was written to be danced to – is the ball.
