Margaret Watkins – Black Light

One of the most important photographers ever presents a selection of 136 vintage photographs and photomontages made between 1914 and 1939.

For the first time in Portugal, the exhibition “Margaret Watkins – Black Light” presents at the Cascais Cultural Center the work of Canadian photographer Margaret Watkins (1884 – 1969), one of the most important and influential figures in the history of photography.

Between the 25th of September and the 8th of January 2023, in an initiative of the Fundação D. Luís I and the Municipality of Cascais within the scope of the Bairro dos Museus programme.

A selection of 136 vintage photographs and photomontages made between 1914 and 1939 – in addition to original documents and objects, a period camera and a documentary film about the photographer – make up the exhibition “Margaret Watkins – Black Light”.
